UpStream serves humanitarian causes that our intelligence expertise can meaningfully support. With that principle in mind, we have worked with nonprofit organizations fighting human trafficking in the United States. Most notably, our analysts contribute to Project 1591 — Guardian Group's crowd-sourced volunteer platform — helping identify victims of trafficking. We apply our experience in open-source research, geolocation, dark web exposure, and asset tracing to that work. Guardian Group compiles our findings and passes them to their network of local law enforcement contacts to support victim recovery. Our analysts volunteer both on their own time and during quarterly company volunteer days, which regularly generate dozens of leads for investigators.

Beyond our work with Guardian Group, our analysts have delivered actionable intelligence on missing persons through Trace Labs' Search Party, anonymity services for organizations running victim recovery programs, and address obfuscation for vulnerable individuals.
